Everything a Lovely Icon is about!

Hi Lauren! Please present yourself and share a bit about your current work and beauty brand.

My name is Lauren Napier. I am the founder of LAUREN NAPIER BEAUTY, a collection of luxurious, eco friendly high performance facial cleansing wipes. I launched LAUREN NAPIER BEAUTY in 2014 with a savings and an American Express credit card. I spent sleepless nights on Google searching for the components that would help me launch this incredible and empowering brand. Today, LAUREN NAPIER BEAUTY is a global brand and is sold in 20 countries around the world.

What inspired you to pursue your career in the beauty industry and how did you start your journey?

I was a makeup artist for a decade and was on winter hiatus from the tv series I had been working on. I was happy with my career but not completely fulfilled. I decided to pursue my entrepreneurial passion.  I was on a flight from Australia to Dubai and was struck with the ideal while sitting hot and crowded in a window seat.

As a beauty entrepreneur, what was one of the most empowering experiences you’ve had in your career so far?

The most empowering aspect of running my own business are overcoming the daily challenges. You never know how much inner strength it takes to overcome the daily grind when you are running a business. I didn’t realize own my levels of creativity and passion that I had for my own ideas. If you can channel and follow through with your ideas that is the most empowering part of it all.

The beauty industry can be fiercely competitive and difficult to break into, can you share some challenges that you’ve faced and how do you stay grounded?

The beauty industry is notoriously competitive and yes, difficult to break into. I have seen many facets from the beauty counter , to freelance makeup artistry and now I am part of the cosmetic industry. There is often a lack of confidence in that space. Instead of women (and men) appreciating and learning from their contemporaries, they create obstacles for their growth. I experienced this time and time again. This was one of the reasons I was so passionate about creating LAUREN NAPIER BEAUTY. I didn’t want someone’s envy to be an obstacle.
Now that I have made an exodus from the artistry side of the industry, I’ve also experienced challenges and triumphs. The challenges are not something that I am not able to overcome, the beauty industry has taken notice, I believe I am a leader in a growing beauty space.

What words of advice or encouragement would you have for other young people interested in launching a beauty brand?
Don’t give up on your dreams. Be prepared for the disappointing moments. Never lose sight of how far you’ve come. There will always be challenges, I have have to dig deep to get beyond them. I am a creative thinker and a problem solver. My goal is always to push through the wall or shatter the glass ceiling.
Don’t be afraid to be groundbreaking, be authentic and break the mold.

Thank you for sharing those encouraging words! What’s next on your journey to lovely (your future goals and aspirations)?

I am so excited for the future. I am very optimistic. I have so many projects that are all coming together in the next year. I know it will be a roller coaster but I am ready for the ride. Next year is the launch of LAUREN NAPIER BEAUTY’s third product in the collection. I am so proud to have created a collection of products designed to make people feel comfortable in their own skin and the third product rounds out the collection and will hopefully be even more impactful to those experiencing the perils of their complexion.

That’s awesome, truly wish you the best! Where can we keep up with you online?
