In honor of the Hollywood maven’s birthday today, here are 3 “Life Lessons” we can borrow from the her repertoire, to move forward with the same joie de vivre that she always exhibited.

Lesson 1: Believe in your dreams

This is the season to really hold on to those dreams, goals and visions that you have in your heart. Only you know them, no need to over share. Some were even reset as resolutions at the start of Year and may have been put on pause. But that’s all it is, a temporary setback for a major comeback. We live in a digital era, where human connection has become more detached than ever. However, if there is one thins this global pandemic has taught us is that we are more alike than we are different. And our elderly, the homeless and those who are vulnerable in our community need us. I’ve been helping some elderly people in my neighborhood and making sure to help how I can wether via a moral support or sharing crucial health information.

Although we all have our lives, no one is an island and it’s important to be there for one another. Being of service enriches the giver. Generosity empowers the giver. Serving others has always brought me joy, whether at church, volunteering at a food bank or giving free after-school classes to teens.

When you give to others, whether time money or ressources, you are planting a seed that won’t go unnoticed and will inspire others to take action as well.

Lcbesson 3: “Carpe Diem” – Seize the Moment!


“Pick the day. Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present – and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.” (Source)

It’s so important to seize this moment we’re all in, don’t focus on the negatives and just try to make the most of “Quarantine”.

It’s a tragic time but there is a silver lining. We can all grow from this and become wiser, more compassionate and resilient.

We can also practice more self care and use this time alone as an opportunity to adopt healthy boundaries and mental health practices.

Some of us who are coping better, can use this time to hone our skills or even sign up for an online class.

The point is: Don’t let this season come and go. We are living in Historic Times. Never had our generation seen anything like this. So it’s also a testament to recognizing opportunity when it arises. And if our Lovely Audrey was around I’m sure she’d think the same. As a Hollywood actress during the Golden Age, Ms Hepburn was an expert at spotting a unique opportunities and capitalizing on them. The longevity and prominence of her career shows that she seized every chance to build a successful name for herself.
