Hi dear, please present yourself and share a bit about your current work
Hello all, I am a Canadian born women’s fashion designer. I showed my most recent collection this Spring at Paris Fashion Week and am releasing my first ready-to-wear collection online this summer. I want to create playful yet timeless pieces that make women feel bold and beautiful.

When did you decide you wanted to be a designer?
Fashion has always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I was young, I remember always drawing fashion inspired pictures and daydreaming of new styles. However, for most of my life I always followed a more traditional career trajectory. It wasn’t until I was working in a corporate environment that I realized how unfilled I felt creatively. I finally cracked and followed my passion, entering an intensive fashion design program at the London School of the Arts. When I started I felt stimulated and full of energy; I knew immediately that I had made the right decision.

What was one of the most empowering experiences you’ve had in your career?
One of the most empowering experiences thus far in my career has been showing at numerous fashion weeks. I am so grateful to share my collections with the public and to be surrounded by amazing people. Collaborating with the models and entire runway crews has been empowering and has allowed me to feel a part of a larger community. The fashion world is often viewed through the stereotype of being cold or judgemental but I have experienced quite the opposite, which has been amazing.

What inspires your craft and how do you stay creative?
My inspiration comes from a plethora of things. My collections have grown from different experiences, prints, colors, moods and everything in between. For my last collection I was very inspired by my trip to Oaxaca and the amazing textiles and simplicity of the landscape. However, I don’t believe you need to always be traveling or engaging in new activities to be inspired; by just engaging with the world around you and allowing your creativity to flourish is my main way of staying creative.

What words of advice or encouragement would you have for aspiring designers?

I would say my piece of advice would be to never give up! You started on this path for a reason because you love it and even when feeling discouraged to always reflect on that! And to have fun, always try to have fun.

As a new designer myself I believe the best advice I could give right now is to stay true to yourself and push through adversity. Sometimes it is hard to stay positive but to remember that you’re doing what you love and that’s what counts!

Thank you so much for your time and sharing those encouraging words! Where can we keep up with you online?

Thank you for the opportunity!
I have my own website under my name,, and am on every major social media platform. I also love Instagram and sharing my day through my story! Follow me at @marisapclark.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed your interview with Marisa on the blog! 💞
I can completely relate to her love and it was really great hearing her point of view! I was steered away from studying fashion design when I was younger and entering college, and after a successful career in another field, I’ve never lost the love, need and desire for it. This was most certainly inspirational. Thanks for sharing!
