Lovely Icons: Meet the beautiful Shayzon!

Happy Women’s History Month lovelies! Continuing our focus on empowering women and embracing our femininity, we will begin a series of interviews of inspiring figures from the fashion, beauty and lifestyle scene.

Our first interviewee is the amazing Shayzon, whom it was such a pleasure to exchange with. Her social media platforms showcase a confident, stunning and stylish entrepreneur, who uses her talent to not only beautify her surroundings but also to uplift other women with her amazing CHICified brand and the CHICified girl Initiative, which is focused on empowering young girls and young women. Everything an inspiring Lovely Icon is about!

Hello dear, please present yourself in a few words.

Hello all, I’m SHAYZON, a wife for 17 years, mom to two amazing teenagers, a Style & Beauty Expert, known as The Fashion Mixologist and Host of THE SKINNI w/ SHAYZON.

Can you share about a woman who inspires you and why?

I know many people say their mom is the woman that inspires them, and sometimes it can seem a bit cliche, but I honestly have to say, whole-heartedly, that my mom is and has been my inspiration. She is quite a classy lady and has been such an amazing example of a loving, wise, selfless, hard working, and spiritual woman. Her ability to love so unconditionally and selflessly is matchless. She has worked so hard to provide for her family, multiple jobs at times, when I was young, and never fell short of pouring her love and words of encouragement on her family and those around her. Her commitment and immeasurable love for her children is a gift that is beyond words. I hope and pray that I am and will continue to be half of the woman and mother that she is.

What was one of the most empowering moments you’ve had in your life?

One of the most empowering experiences I’ve had as a woman, was owning an award winning High-End, Elite, Bridal Hair and Makeup company for 5 years. Having the company grow so quickly and being able to employ and train other talented ladies was a true gift.

What words of advice or encouragement would you have for today’s young women?

Know that fear and self doubt is inevitable throughout your life’s journey. Those feelings, though very real, doesn’t mean that you’re weak or not cut out for your goals and dreams. Don’t allow them to paralyze your efforts or prevent you from going after what you want in life. The fear of No, and the fear of rejection has robbed many talented and incredible people of living the life they were meant to live. Talk yourself through the fear, work through the fear, what ever you do just don’t give up on your bright future because of your fears.

What does ‘womanhood’ mean to you?

When I think of my womanhood, I immediately think strength, vulnerability, self-awareness and limitless love. As a woman, I’ve grown to confidently and unapologetically embrace my many layers , short-comings and roles. Our uniqueness makes us beautiful. The moment that you begin to draw power, instead of shame from those unique things, is the moment as a women, when you begin to truly shine and walk in your truth.

Thank you so much for your time and sharing those encouraging words! Where can we keep up with you online?
