Hey lovelies, did you know that exfoliating is a great way to deep-clean your pores, eliminate dead cells and aid in skin renewal via collagen building?
Our skin is our body’s largest organ and by exfoliating we are helping it to regenerate and remove the old layers that obstructs pores causing acne and dull skin.
It should be noted that:
-if you have oily skin, you should exfoliate up to three times a week.
-if you have sensitive or dry skin: you should exfoliate once a week.
-if you have mature skin: you can exfoliate up to four times a week.

3 Tips to exfoliate:
1. Go homemade or organic
What I love about exfoliating is that I can create my own scrubs in the comfort of my own home. No wonder it’s a signature spa treatment and a lovely way to enhance your beauty routine. To make my own exfoliating treatment, I usually keep it simple but effective. Here is my recipe: take a clean bowl, full it with 5 table spoons of olive oil, add some organic brown sugar to fill in the oil until it creates a paste. Then simply pour 3 drops of tea tree essential oil and voilà!
If you prefer to purchase your own scrub, go for a natural yet effective one like the Acai Berry organic antioxidant formula by Organic Naturals. If you suffer from acne, you can try out the super effective black head erasing formula by Clean & Clear.
2. Always Use Steam
Using steam is one thing I realized, makes a crucial difference- especially after a few hits and misses in the exfoliation game! Yes, please do not over-exfoliate as it is not pretty and can damage your skin. Steaming is your beauty ally to win the war against dead skin cells. Indeed, the more you steam your face, the easier the process is. That’s because the steam opens your pores and allows the grains or whatever exfoliating element is used, to gently clear pores and scrub your skin.
It’s a sure way to begin the exfoliating and you don’t need a steamer, you can simply heat up some water, pour it in a bowl and cover your head with a towel for extra warmth. It will add moisture and hydration to soften the skin and prepare for the next step.
3. Choose your exfoliation tool
If you have sensitive skin, it’s best to simply use your fingers and palms:
– Start by rubbing your face in small circles.l across your forehead, cheeks, chin, nose and upper lips. Keep this up for about 2 minutes.
– Next, stretch your palms over your cheeks and move them in a circular motion going upwards towards your forehead. Repeat starting from your chin for about 1 minute.
If your skin is less sensitive, you can use an exfoliating glove or a face brush:
-I use the Clairsonic electronic brush on my face with a gel based wash. If you use an electronic item, do not use a scrub because it’ll be too aggressive to the skin. The Clairsonic brush is actually a really great exfoliating tool to invest in as it activates blood circulation and speeds up skin renewal. You literally see results within a couple of weeks!
-When exfoliating my body, I prefer to use a special exfoliating glove and recommend those that are made with organic materials, like Bamboo or Japanese Konjic. You see and feel the difference instantly, especially on harsher body parts like your knees or elbows. Skin feels instantly smoother and looks much more radiant!
