@TheJourneyToLovely X @Balmain for @ParisFashionWeek

The Balmain RTW Fall/Winter 2019-20 show was beyond stunning.

It was held at the Espace Champerret and as I exited my Uber, I was met with a host of paparazzi snapping away. I stopped, kind of intrigued that I was being photographed (felt more like Cannes than Paris). But quickly reminded myself that during Fashion Week, it’s glitz and glamour galore in the City of Lights. The show was scheduled to begin at 10:30 am and I was on time. I took a moment to scope out the venue and noticed some familiar faces, from A-listers to magazine editors and it-girls, all awaiting the impending spectacle. Before the final security check, I was standing right behind Vogue International Editor, Suzy Menkes, when it hit me, “you’re really here”. And so it began, attending my first Balmain fashion show.https://journeytolovely.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/img_0759.trim_.mov

I sat down and the huge space began to fill in until the lights dimmed, the first beat dropped and the echo of heels heels filled the gigantic location.

The collection featured a plethora of fabric from textured tweed to leather, distressed denim and vinyl artfully tailored into rock ‘n’ roll-inspired jackets, ballerina-style skirts, spiked blouses and armor-like capes.

Creative director, Olivier Rousteing wanted a more relaxed theme for this season, which he referred to as “sweet poison”, according to WWD.com.

In Olivier’s official address, describing his vision, he states, “my runway today celebrates a different, invigorating and new type of rebellious spirit. For inspiration, my team in I look to the self-assured women of my generation pushing forward.

This collection, he continues, riffs upon that fresh, fierce resolve, that demand for control and love for bold action.”

His use of diverse textures and take on different color palettes ranging from color blocking black & white to romantic pastel tones, perfectly captured the essence of the multi-faceted Balmain woman.

Olivier hopes that the attitude of his collection conveys a message of empowerment to the growing movement of young “rebelles”: be aware of your own great power, and use your voice and influence to impact.

With this fierce new mood, Olivier successfully brought his vision to life and it was a definite slay for the ever-so-stylish #BalmainArmy!

The festivities continued on the prestigious Rue St Honoré to celebrate the opening of the new flagship store 🥂

It was such an honor to be apart of this phenomenal fashion experience.

From the runway to St.Honoré, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. But it was when I got to meet with the prodigy himself, Mr. Olivier Rousteing, that it made me realize the growth of my platform and to keep fervently pursuing my dreams.

My message to Olivier:

My dear @olivier_rousteing, you are truly a couture prodigy and creative genius. I couldn’t express everything at the opening, but I am constantly inspired by your art, work ethic and visionary stance.✨The way you push boundaries in fashion and champion diversity, inclusivity and universalism is beyond admirable.

As a fellow #Virgo, I connect with your attention to detail and avid perfectionism, which was woven through each piece of your #FW19 collection. You carry the legacy of Mr. Pierre @Balmain with such grace and authenticity- I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and the iconic House. So keep shining bright, the world is your #FabergeEgg 😉👑⭐️

So there you have it. A wonderful experience that I would describe as a celebration of the “unbridled Power of Womanhood”.

We’ve worked to ensure that our creations match the level of daring of today’s trouble-makers.
