The “La Durée” tea room is one of my favorite little spots in Paris, situated on the legendary Champs Elysées.
This soft-hued getaway is known as the “La Durée Bar” and reminds one of an etheral little nook, caught between Alice in Wonderland and a dreamlike world, full of fantasy and delicious treats.
As a Parisian, it’s truly a treasure hunt to find secluded places, hidden from the bustling crowds that offer both quality service and a renowned menu_ all while being the perfect secret escape.
Although, the restaurant and pastry shop are always filled to the rims, few know about the bar, which is quietly set up at the back of the iconic establishment.
The decor is truly a feast for the eyes: delicate stained-glass windows adorned with twirling enamelled butterflies, an outerwordly shaped bar with a bluish light permeating the entire room with its dreamy glow, surrounded by charming chrysalis-shaped stools that makes one wonder if an anxious white rabbit will appear chanting: “I’m late, I’m late for a very important date”.
This whimsical place offers a varied menu, concoted by Michel Lerouet, as sweet and romantic as it’s surroundings, from sweetly-seasoned appetizers to its famous macarons and other iconic desserts, like the Isaphan.
The bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu often changes within it’s specific collections, following the seasons, allowing clients to discover and rediscover periodic specialties.
So, if you’re ever wandering on the mythical avenue of the Champs-Elysees, and want to slip away to enjoy an outerworldly experience, this is your delicious escape.
